About The Event

The University of Worcester will be hosting a Hackathon as part of TechFest, bringing together students, early-career professionals, and experienced practitioners to collaborate on real-world challenges in an intensive, hands-on environment.

This page is a pre-registration Expression of Interest for individuals and teams who would like to take part.

About the Hackathon

The Hackathon will:

  • Be delivered in a structured, facilitated format

  • Support collaboration, creativity, and problem-solving

  • Be accessible to beginners while still offering depth for experienced participants

  • Encourage learning, experimentation, and teamwork

Participants may register as an individual or as part of a team, with support available to form teams where required.

Two Participation Streams

To ensure a high-quality experience for all participants, the Hackathon will run two streams:

Beginner Stream

Designed for those who are new to hackathons or innovation challenges.

This stream will focus on:

  • Understanding how hackathons work

  • Building confidence in problem-solving and teamwork

  • Guided support throughout the session

  • Developing practical skills in a supportive environment

No prior hackathon experience is required.

Experienced Stream

Designed for participants with previous hackathon, technical, or innovation experience.

This stream will focus on:

  • More complex challenges

  • Faster-paced solution development

  • Peer-to-peer collaboration

  • Applying specialist skills to real-world problems

Participants selecting this stream should be comfortable working independently and collaboratively at pace.
