About The Event

Event Overview

Cyber incidents are no longer a question of if, but when. From ransomware and system outages to data compromise and supply chain disruption, organisations of all sizes must be prepared to respond quickly and effectively when the worst happens.

This Cyber Disaster Recovery Workshop is a practical, business-focused session designed to help organisations understand how to prevent cyber disasters where possible, and critically, how to respond when prevention fails.

Through a combination of expert insight and an interactive tabletop exercise, attendees will gain a realistic understanding of what a cyber incident looks like in practice and what decisive, well-prepared action can do to minimise damage, downtime, and financial loss.

Keynote: Preventing Cyber Disaster Before It Happens

The session opens with a keynote from Pete Rucinski of Assure Technical.

Pete will provide a clear, accessible overview of:

  • Common causes of cyber incidents and business disruption

  • Practical steps organisations can take to reduce their exposure to cyber risk

  • The foundational controls that make the biggest difference during a real incident

  • Why preparation and recovery planning are as important as prevention

Interactive Workshop: Cyber Disaster Recovery Tabletop Exercise

Following the keynote, the workshop transitions into a hands-on tabletop exercise led by Yasmine Tornblad.

Participants will be guided through a realistic cyber disaster recovery scenario that simulates:

  • A significant cyber incident affecting business operations

  • Decision-making under pressure with incomplete information

  • Managing operational, financial, reputational, and regulatory impacts

  • Coordinating internal teams and external stakeholders

  • Actions that limit damage and support business continuity

This is a facilitated, discussion-based exercise, not a technical lab. Attendees are encouraged to think strategically, challenge assumptions, and consider how their own organisation would respond in similar circumstances.
